Avi Schiffmann, a 17-year-old student living in Washington, has spent the last few months creating a website to collect all the information related to COVID-19, from statistics on the pandemic to recommendations on how to combat it.
This young high school senior has shown a great passion for helping the world. Since December 2019, Avi has been working on the development of the website to monitor the new coronavirus.
The page is updated every 10 minutes using reports from the CDC and the WHO, and breaks down the information on active cases, people in serious condition, total deaths, and the number of recovered.
The website (ncov2019.live) includes graphs and maps with COVID-19 cases around the world. Additionally, the website includes a small encyclopedia to learn everything related to the disease. Astonishingly Avi updates the site manually which is a lot of data and dedication.
The teenager claims that he works 6 hours a day to maintain the website’s quality. He indicated that in addition to fixing occasional problems, he is also implementing new data as the situation with the disease evolves.
Research suggests that the China Virus began to spread through direct contact of individuals in China with infected animals. Although the numbers can seem bleak, Avi Schiffman’s website shows that 80% of COVID-19 patients do not have severe symptoms that require treatment.
